Listservs

A listserv is an application that distributes messages to subscribers on an electronic mailing list. The University of Maryland Extension Small Ruminant Program has created four listservs to communicate with producers and disseminate information pertaining to sheep and goat production and marketing. Anyone may subscribe to one or more of the listservs.

Wild & Woolly  (sheepandgoatnews)

If you subscribe to the Wild & Woolly listserv, you will receive an e-mail message when a new issue of the Wild & Woolly newsletter has been posted to this web site. Throughtout the year, you may receive a few additional e-mails about upcoming programs or important issues. E-mails from the Wild & Woolly listserv are not very frequent, since there are only four newsletter issues per year.

Sheep Research @ WMREC (wmrecresearch)
If you subscribe the WMREC research listserv, you'll receive email posts pertaining to the new sheep research project at the University of Maryland's Western Maryland Research & Education Center.

Webinars (sheepgoatwebinars)

If you subscribe to the webinar listserv, you will receive e-mail messages about upcoming webinars. The listserv will also be used to communicate with webinar participants. Webinars are held mostly in the winter months.

WORMinfo (WORMINFO)

If you subscribe to the WORMinfo listserv. you will receive e-mail messages when something new has been posted to the web site of the American Consortium for Small Ruminant Parasite Control (ACSRPC). The web site has two urls:  www.acsrpc.org and www.wormx.info.

Subscribing to a listserv

To subscribe to one or more of the listservs, send an e-mail message to:  listserv@listserv.umd.edu

In the body of the message, write:  subscribe nameoflistserv

To unsubscribe, send an e-mail to the same e-mail address, but in the body of the message, write:

unsubscribe (or signoff) nameoflistserv

If your e-mail address changes or you wish to use a different e-mail address for a listserv, you will need to un-subscribe, then re-subscribe from your new address.

The listservs replace the e-mail reflector lists which were previously in use. If your e-mail address was on an e-mail reflector list, it was automatically added to the appropriate listserv(s).

The listservs are not interactive. They are for one-way communication only. You will not be able to send an e-mail message to the whole list.
