West African
The West African is found in the Caribbean, Venezuela and Colombia. They are usually brown in color, ranging from tan to dark, cherry red. Both sexes are polled. Rams may have a mane.The West African is similar to the Pelibüey in size and comformation. In fact, the two breeds are thought to be related. In the Caribbean it is common to cross the West African with the Barbados Blackbelly to improve the quality of lambs.
