New Maryland Sheep and Goat Directory

University of Maryland Cooperative Extension is in the process of developing a directory for sheep and goat producers. The purpose of the directory will be to help producers sell breeding stock, market animals, and sheep and goat products (youth project animals, fiber, dairy products, etc.) and to help potential buyers locate the same. The directory will be available on the Internet and in hard copy. It will be searchable by species, breed (or type), products, and county (or region).

To be included in the directory, producers need to fill out and return the Maryland Sheep and Goat Survey. The survey form can be downloaded from the Internet in PDF form by clicking HERE. Producers are encouraged to make copies of the survey form and share it with other interested producers.

The directory is for producers who raise sheep and goats and routinely have breeding stock, market animals, and/or sheep and goat products for sale. Individuals who have sheep and/or goats, but who do not routinely sell breeding stock, market animals, or related products, should not request a listing in the directory. Producers in nearby states are eligible to have listings in the directory if they conduct business in Maryland.

Surveys should be returned to the Western Maryland Research & Education Center, Maryland Sheep and Goat Directory, 18330 Keedysville Road, Keedysville, MD 21756, PH: (301) 432-2767, FAX (301) 432-4089; e-mail: sschoen@umd.edu. The directory is open to all persons regardless of race, color, gender, religion, national origin, age, or disability. The directory is open to all breeds of sheep and goats and all products derived from sheep and goats. Directory listings are FREE.
